Release Notes: CM9 alpha1
  • Read the radio firmware upgrade warnings before modding your phone!
  • Known Bugs
  • Google Wallet works, get it from Play Store.
    • Contrary to popular belief you do not need to reset the app in stock before flashing CM9 for Google Wallet to work in CM9.  There are however scattered reports of users with Secure Element failures.  According to some user reports, if you get the same failure with stock Sprint firmware, your phone is broken and can only be fixed with a swap.
  • Sprint has confirmed a 3G connectivity problem with stock toroplus AOSP.  Please report if this CM9 fixes this problem for you.
  • kernel-3.0.30 by KalimAz.

Update 5/72012: Use nightly builds for now.
They're generally fine.  We will release a fully tested alpha2 build soon after we have a Sprint-specific fix done.  Both tested releases and nightly builds are available from here.  If you want gapps, find the 4/29/2012 version with md5sum 7c524e1e078164f681e0aa6753180b2c.  For initial install you will need the toroplus version of CWM.

Install Instructions
For more detailed instructions please see the CyanogenMod Wiki page.  Below are the abbreviated instructions.
  1. Due to the radio firmware upgrade issues, you are advised to apply Sprint's FD02 version OTA upgrade prior to unlocking your bootloader and replacing the firmware.
  2. If you have not already, you need to unlock your bootloader.  Unlocking will wipe your phone entirely including /data and /sdcard.

  3. While in the bootloader, use this command to flash CWM recovery.  (Instructions to make fastboot work on different operating systems coming soon.)

  4. Run Recovery.  It is *important* that you use the toroplus-specific CWM (or TWRP).  Users have reported strange problems with CM9 when they used a different recovery.
  5. Wipe /data and /cache.  CM9 boot will fail if you have leftover AOSP /data.
  6. Flash CM9.
  7. Then optionally flash gapps if you want it.
  8. Read the radios page to upgrade to the latest radio.
  9. CM9 first boot will take a while.  You might show no signal at first.  Just keep waiting for the modem to settle down.

  1. Works good for me, my 3g is working great even though I never experienced a problem with the unit beforehand. Keep up the good work, I volunteer to be a guinea pig for future tests if you want :P. Plus give me a chance to buy you guys a beer damnit!

  2. Are the nightlys going to be for the foreseeable future? Or are we going to see a stable build soon?

    Thanks,
